Tanzania, Jan 29 – Stanbic Bank financially supported a basketball tournament dubbed Chinese Constructors Association (Tanzania) basketball tournament as they look to build stronger business relations with their clients.

The sport event marked the 7th edition of the competition that the bank earmarked to potentially increase its market in the Chinese community with their support. Institutions have marked such platforms as great opportunities to market their businesses and reach the target audience.

Stanbic Bank Executive Director and Head of Corporate and Investment Banking, Thomas Bisonga said the initiative to sponsor the week-long event was to open greater opportunities for the bank to gain access to potential market.

He added that it opened a space for the Chinese businesses to open their working networks and build stronger relationships to work effectively. It is undoubtedly a smart move from the financial institution that seeks to open branches across the African continent and gain access to pastures new.

The trade partner has been on a series of success with Chinese businesses and would use the platform to further up healthy relations with their partners. Potential investors could emerge with business contacts that would bring potential investments and entrepreneurs together under common umbrella.

Stanbic Bank understands the opportunity will go beyond the banking sector paving way for other businesses to peak in the long run. The bank needs no further introduction in the Chinese Community with its notable relationship with Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (ICBC), one of the long serving partnerships between the two. They have worked closely for over ten years.

Having gained grounds in close to 20 countries, the Stanbic Bank is keen on taking pivotal role in emerging markets in the African continent as it builds bigger networks to reach a wider range of customers.

China Geology Corporation suffered a 63-24 loss in the final game, as China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC) Tanzania’s basketball team lifted the trophy. The entertaining fixture was attended by spectators from all over the city.
