KENYA, JUNE 19 —The Swiss International Resort Mount Kenya, currently under development at the borders of Nyeri and Laikipia Counties has been singled out as a pipeline hospitality investment project to watch at the 5th Annual Hotelier Summit.

Based on the Swiss International Resort Mount Kenya development plan and sustainability strategies, the organisers of the 5th Hotelier Summit picked the developers’ of the golf resort near Nanyuki town as this year’s winner of the prestigious Hospitality “Honorarium” Grand 2018 award.

The Swiss International Resort Mount Kenya strategies are aligned to the Big 4 National Tourism Blueprint 2030, which is the transformational framework for the Kenyan tourism sector.

The strategy recently developed by the Ministry of Tourism and Wildlife, seeks to develop new innovative approaches in the management of the tourism sector in Kenya, to achieve Vision 2030, while outlining the tools and guidelines to achieve this.

Speaking when he received the award, Swiss International Resort Mount Kenya’s Developer Ronald Ndegwa said the firm’s strategies are undergoing further fine tuning to ensure alignments with the Big 4 National Tourism Blueprint 2030 which highlights the role of private sector-led investments in the sector.

The award, he said will serve to inspire the project team. He confirmed that the golf resort development plans are proceeding on schedule.

The ongoing US$ 70million (KShs 7billion), upscale resort development project at the foot of Mount Kenya is the single largest private investment initiative in the Mount Kenya Tourism belt and is scheduled to open its doors next year.

“The Sub-Saharan region has a lot of untapped hospitality potential complemented by its exquisite nature and wildlife, with the meetings, conferences and events opportunities and the Pan-African population’s growing appreciation of the hospitality service industry. With all what we do today, we are only just scratching the surface,” Ndegwa said.

“Together with Swiss International Hotels & Resorts, we are honoured for having been able to contribute to the vibrant anticipated future of the hospitality industry in Africa,” he added.

The focus of the 5th Annual Summit, organized by IDE Global is to provide major hospitality industry developers and suppliers a platform to present and discuss their relevant hospitality projects with the aim to elevate the hospitality industry in Sub-Saharan Africa.

On his part, Swiss International Hotels & Resorts’ President and CEO,  Henri Kennedie said: “Swiss International is proud to receive the award and the recognition for Swiss International Resort Mount Kenya.”

Swiss International proudly entered into a Technical Services agreement and a Management Agreement in 2016 with the developers of Swiss International Resort Mount Kenya to conceptualize, construct and manage the golf resort to international standards.

The partnership also seeks to create unique experiences for both the local and international travellers.

“Swiss International as a chain values the development opportunities in the Sub- Saharan region. Alongside Swiss International Resort Mount Kenya, the company has become one of the hospitality leaders in this region with its four hotels in operations and 15 hotel projects under development in Sub-Sahara,” Mr. Henri Kennedie said.
