Tanzania is expected to attend the much anticipated Dubai Expo 2020 where the country will have great opportunity to attract investors and boost its tourism sector among other prospects.
With an expected turn up of over 180 countries from across the globe and millions of company representatives, the expo gives Tanzania the window to attract foreign direct investment.
As the country endeavours to industrialize and transform into a middle income economy, this is an opportunity to showcase the merits of the country and let the world know why Tanzania is among Africa’s fastest growing economies.
The just ended World Economic Forum ranked Tanzania top in Africa on the Inclusive Development Index. This means that the country is recognized for not just fast and wide spread economic development but also for improving the welfare of its people.
Tanzania can also use the conference to inform the world of investors of the great opportunities that the country has to offer, the conducive business environment and the hospitality of the people.
Furthermore, the country’s small and medium-sized businesses will also have the opportunity to showcase their products and services. At the same time, it will be a chance for them to partner, merge and attract capital investments to their businesses.
The real estate sector also has much to gain from the conference. Dubai is renowned for its magnificent structures.
Architectures and contractors have a lot to learn from the Expo that they can apply back home as well as the chance to partner with UAE firms to take on larger development projects.
Expo 2020’s main theme of ‘Connecting minds, Creating the future’, has been at the core of the UAE-Tanzania relationship for centuries.
With numerous oil and gas exploration going on in the country, Tanzania also has the opportunity to attract new investments into these lucrative sectors. The same is the case across the entire extractive industry, including metal and precious stone mining.
The tourism sector is another industry that stands to gain tremendously from the Expo. This is opportunity to show the world why Tanzania is the choice tourist destination. With attractions like the white sandy beaches of the spice island of Zanzibar and Mt. Kilimanjaro, the highest mountain in Africa, the wondrous Ngorongoro crater and the marvelous Serengeti plains, the Expo will offer great opportunity to market the country’s attractions.
A Word From Her Excellency Reem Al Hashimy, UAE Minister of State for International Cooperation, Director General – Bureau Expo 2020 Dubai.
Tanzania will have space to initiate its own hosting of dialogue with other nations, businesses and organisations, helping to create and deepen relationships – which could lead to new opportunities or solutions to pressing problems.
We believe this global destination will support Tanzania to showcase to the world why it is one of the fastest growing economies in Sub-Saharan Africa, and how it is transforming towards a middle-income country, a growth that I have personally witnessed.
Our Expo themes are both significant and broad. They cover many fields of human endeavour and point the way to areas of concern and celebration. Concern for the planet, for jobs, for education and for the future; celebration of humanity’s brightest achievements and of our ability to connect and work together to make things better for all.
