Tanzania, Feb 15 – Agra, Alliance for a Green Revolution in Africa has rolled out a programme for small scale farmers which will be able to improve their financial income for personal and collective purpose. The initiative that targets at least 3.5 million cultivators seeks to revolutionize their farming techniques to be more productive.
This is an opportunity to lift a number of farmers from the pit of poverty as they seek to achieve financial stability. With more income, the farmers will not only be able to purchase machinery, fertilisers and modern technology but to set aside some amount for investment plans that could go a long way for their lives.
A statistics that way done recently in Kenya for dairy farmers showed a good number of farmers who rarely received remittances and could probably not make enough to alleviate them from poverty. With the increase in prices for tools, equipment and fertilizers, they may not have enough at their disposal for upgrading their financial lives. More income, would help them budget well and see the saving culture come in handy for them.
The programme that kicked off in June is set to continue being operational until December 2021.
The dynamics of change should challenge the farmers to move in a direction of their favor hence the need to be all rounded in farming, investment and acquainted with the markets. The holistic approach gives them a cutting edge to know more in terms of farming operations and making crucial decisions to benefit them.
The farmers will be empowered having the back-up of a number of sponsors on board to fund the project.
The right vision will give the government a rather smooth time in paying attention to the farmers with the bigger chunk of work already catered for. Farmers will be more effective and efficient.
