Uganda has seen a significant growth and expansion in the milk sector owing to better milk farming measure that have spurred the business for the country. The country reached a milestone of producing a total of 2.2 billion litres yearly, which is a significant increase over the previous years.
Now, the country aims at 100% milk processing and has called upon investors to share in the idea and help the Ministry of Agriculture attain their target. It could prove to be a major challenge for the sector and the Government of Uganda but needs the help of able investors to chip in to make the project possible. A lot of labor is require, technicality and resource to make the process a success.
The process is set to increase the income of small scale farmers and improve the quality of the by-products to be competitive in the global markets. Over 80% of the milk produced is marketed while the remainder is used for domestic consumption. This has helped the country rake in good revenue for the funding of development projects.

Uganda is seeking to use other channels to widen its market for milk sales and market its agriculture production beyond its regional boundaries. By boosting its trade relations and strengthening ties with other nations and entering into bloc agreements, they can use to such platforms to gain more grounds.
