THE competitive environment in the cement industries has been an opportunity for Tanga Cement Company Limited (TCCL) to bring innovative products that carter for domestic and foreign markets.

An official with TCCL Mr Justice Kanju said at the industry exhibitions taking place at the Julius Nyerere Trade Fair Ground in Dar es Salaam that innovation has been key to holding and expanding the market share within and outside the country.

“We work closely with customers in different parts of the country by making follow-up in their projects to ensure they make best use of our products in projects implementation to get true value for money,” he said.

He said there are specific cement products for executing variety of projects like roads, bridges, and mega housing construction projects. For example, recently TCCL introduced to the local market Mkombozi Cement brand which is 32.

5N cement class for all-purpose cement aimed to meet the construction needs of Tanzanians in infrastructure and residential housing in particular.

He said there are many players in the cement industry that has stiffened competitions but innovation and quality products is what differentiate one from the other in the market.

“Bringing innovative products to the market is a continued process and a way to sustain in the competitive environment due to increased number of players,” he said. He commended the organisers for preparing the industry expo in order for the local manufacturers to showcase their products to visitors in the trade fair grounds.

“The industry exhibition is a unique opportunity for the manufacturers to make known their products to the consumers and at times entering into important deals,” he added. He said despite the competitive environment, demand for cement has remained strong particularly with hope of increasing spending and execution of mega infrastructure projects in roads and railways.
