The China Civil Engineering Construction Company (CCECC) has recognized various Tanzanians for their service in the development of the Ubungo Flyover Project.
The CCECC is currently engaged in building the Ubungo Flyover project and has been responsible for improving the infrastructure of many African governments. To date, it has employed nearly 3,000 local Tanzanians and has aided to the improvement of the country’s national infrastructure.
The commitment of CCECC stands to demonstrate a long-historic relationship between China and Tanzania.
According to the CCECC Managing Director, Mr. Jiang Yigao, CCECC came to Africa half a century ago and constructed the Tanzania-Zambia Railway, which is called “Road of Freedom” and “the road to friendship”.
“CCECC built the world-famous Tanzania-Zambia railway together with the people of Tanzania and Zambia.” He said.
In a statement, the company noted that the staff of CCECC are of significant importance to the company and the country. In order for national development to continue to progress recognizing key local individuals is imperative.
“CCECC hopes that this type of commendation ceremony will enable more local people to understand the company, so that employees can feel the concern of the company, and it can also attract more local people to join Sino-Turkish company, by building a better Tanzania.” Mr. Yigao added.
The China Civil Engineering Construction Company was the first Chinese entity to build a lasting partnership in Tanzania by constructing under the Ministry of Railway of the People’s Republic of China, the Tanzania-Zambia Railway (TAZARA). To date, the 1,860 Km railway is considered as China’s largest foreign aid project. Today, CCECC works in various sectors of civil engineering which include railway construction, real estate development, industrial development, trading, hotel management and road transportation. The company operates in more than 40 countries with more than 20 overseas offices. According to the Engineering News Record, it is listed among the top 70 contractors out of the world’s top 255 international contractors
The partnership between Tanzania and China stands at a critical point today in terms of Tanzania’s future as a leading industrial power in East Africa. The development of the Ubungo Flyover will improve transportation infrastructure and assist in the transport of goods and services to better enhance Dar es Salaam as a major commercial center in the region.
“As the birthplace of CCECC, Tanzania is of great significance to CCECC. As the historical Chinese company in Tanzania, CCECC has taken root in Tanzania and has continued to strengthen localized management.” This is a commitment of the company and the People’s Republic of China as indicated by the Managing Director Mr. Yigao.
Guest of Honor, Mr. Joseph Kahama, Vice President of China Tanzania Business Council commended the staff of CCECC for their hard work and thanked the management for hosting such an ideal event that recognizes the contribution of its staff.
