The G20 Health Ministers' summit has launched the "Global Initiative on Digital Health (GIDH)" to integrate digital health strategies globally.

Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya emphasized the importance of digital health advancements in achieving comprehensive health access.

Mandaviya cautioned against a disjointed strategy in digital health that could overwhelm healthcare professionals and hinder system compatibility.

India's role in shaping a cohesive national digital health framework became the foundation for launching the GIDH during its G20 presidency.

The GIDH aims to create a comprehensive digital health ecosystem by consolidating efforts and investments in the digital health sector.

Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, Director-General of WHO, supported the GIDH for fostering equitable healthcare through advanced technologies like AI.

Digital health technologies, including telemedicine and AI, played crucial roles during the COVID-19 pandemic, highlighting their transformative power.

The GIDH, managed by WHO, focuses on four pillars: aligning with the Global Strategy on Digital Health, providing technical assistance, facilitating digital transformation, and ensuring mutual accountability.

The launch of GIDH coincided with the World Bank's flagship report "Digital in Health – Unlocking Value for Everyone," offering practical guidance for digital health implementation regardless of maturity or fiscal constraints.
