Brock Purdy keeps making NFL history, this time at Tom Brady’s expense

Kyle Shanahan replaced Jimmy Garoppolo with Brock Purdy late in October when the 49ers trailed the Chiefs.

The rookie became the first NFL Mr. Irrelevant to complete a pass in a regular season game.

Purdy tossed a touchdown throw last week after Garoppolo's foot injury against the Miami Dolphins. He became the first NFL Mr. Irrelevant to throw a touchdown pass.

Purdy started his NFL debut Sunday. Purdy's family wanted to visit Brady. According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Purdy's family acquired tickets weeks earlier to witness Brady play against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Purdy defeated the legend. The rookie completed 16 of 21 throws for 185 yards and two touchdowns without an interception as the 49ers defeated the Buccaneers 35-7.

In his worst loss, Brady completed 34 of 55 passes for 253 yards, a touchdown, and two interceptions.

Historic? Purdy was the first NFL rookie quarterback to beat Brady. Purdy became Brady's seventh NFL opponent Sunday.
