Google has abandoned its plans to introduce Chromebooks with integrated Nvidia graphics cards.
Previous Chromebook models included gaming laptop-like features such as RGB keyboards and high refresh rate displays, but all had integrated GPUs for streaming services.
Google was reportedly exploring the idea of launching Chromebooks with dedicated GPUs.
A Chromebook codenamed Hades with a dedicated GeForce RTX 4050 GPU was spotted earlier this year.
Developer comments in Chromium Gerrit reveal that Hades, alongside boards named Agah and Herobrine, have been cancelled, indicating no production for laptops based on these boards.
Speculation exists that Google might release Chromebooks with dedicated GPUs in the future; a code patch hinted at a board codenamed Aurora with an RTX 3050 graphics card, potentially for internal Steam testing.
Google also cancelled the development of Chromebooks powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 7c+ Gen 3 SoC (Herobrine), along with the Nvidia-based Chromebook plans, indicating no new ChromeOS tablets soon.
Development of Chromebooks powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 7c+ Gen 3 SoC (codenamed Herobrine) has also been terminated.
This suggests that no new ChromeOS tablets will be released in the foreseeable future.
