The 9th edition of the Dream city art festival is taking place in Tunisia's capital until October 8th.

Congolese photographer Sammy Baloji's work, "Missa Luba," explores the history of the Kongo kingdom from the 15th century.

The Kongo Kingdom included parts of present-day Congo, the DRC, Gabon, and Angola.

Baloji's performance, about 45 minutes long, touches on themes like politics, slavery, and the evangelization of Africa.

Baloji's project aims to challenge Belgian propaganda about bringing civilization to Congo and highlight pre-colonial civilization and political organization.

The performance revolves around the Missa Luba, a Congolese religious music genre, and interactions between the Kongo Kingdom, Portugal, and the Vatican.

Fiston Mwanza Mujila is a collaborator who narrates the story, connecting 15th-century interactions to present-day issues.

The performance features musicians Barbara Drazkov and Pytshens Kambilo.

Rumba music is incorporated, emphasizing connections between different musical styles.
