Washington courthouse on lockdown, armed person in lobby

(AP) Law enforcement officials say a Washington state courthouse was sealed down on Monday while they negotiated with a gunman in the lobby.

The Snohomish County Sheriff's Office tweeted that the county courthouse in Everett, north of Seattle, was closed as deputies spoke with the suspect.

The Herald reported that dozens of sheriff's and Everett police officers arrived at 1:30 p.m. The publication reported no injuries.

Selena Rios texted the newspaper that the armed man followed her and her 5-year-old to the courts at 12:25 p.m.

She stated the man had many guns and a protective vest. Officers told him to drop them, but he resisted.

Rios. Rios said courthouse officials transferred her and her son to a small room during lockdown.

Campus buildings and neighbouring streets were locked down. Additional information was unavailable.
