The Germans are out of the Women's World Cup in the group stage for the first time ever after a 1-1 tie with South Korea.

Germany was prevented from advancing because Morocco got a stunning 1-0 win over Colombia. Morocco's win got it through Group H along with Colombia.

Germany finished third in the group after losing its last two matches. Two-time world champion Germany crashed out of this year's Women's World Cup after drawing 1-1 to South Korea on Thursday.

The final will take place on 20 August 2023 at Stadium Australia in Sydney. The United States are the two-time defending champions, having won the previous editions in 2015 and 2019.

The United States has been the most dominant team at the Women's World Cup, winning four titles in the first eight editions of the tournament (1991, 1999, 2015, 2019).

The USWNT has reached at least the semifinals in all eight women's World Cups and has never finished below third place.

Held in the Oceanic regions of Australia and New Zealand, the competition is scheduled to run from July 20 through to the final exactly a month later on August 20.
