Malia Obama is taking her next step in her Hollywood career. The former first daughter is set to produce a new film adaptation of the novel "The Photograph" for Amazon Studios.

The novel, written by Tayari Jones, was published in 2019 and tells the story of a young woman who discovers a photograph of her estranged mother.

Obama will produce the film alongside her producing partner, Higher Ground Productions.Higher Ground Productions was founded by Malia and her father, former President Barack Obama, in 2018.

The company has previously produced the Netflix documentary "American Factory" and the upcoming film "Passing."The "The Photograph" film will be directed by Stella Meghie, who previously directed the films "Everything Everything" and "The Weekend."

Malia Obama has been interested in pursuing a career in Hollywood since she was a teenager. She interned on the set of the HBO series "Girls" in 2015.
