Triumph finally took the wraps off its smallest two-wheeler offerings, the Speed 400 and Scrambler 400X, yesterday. Both bikes have been unveiled in the international market and will make it to the Indian shores on 5th July. Until then, let's have a look at the Speed 400 through these images.
An Apple doesn’t fall far from the tree and the same can be said about the Triumph Speed 400. It follows the same retro-styling that we see on the Speed Twin and thereby gets a round headlight, a flat handlebar with bar-end mirrors and a one-piece seat.
Compared to the spy shots of the test bike, the production model of the Speed 400 seems quite admirable.
To make it even more visually appealing as well as enhance its usability, Triumph has listed a bunch of accessories on its official site for the Speed 400.
This includes bullet LED indicators, tank grips, a quilted seat, twin silencers, panniers, a luggage rack, a top box, a windscreen, a radiator guard, a headlight grille, an aluminium sump guard, and more.
Powering the Speed 400 is a 398.15 cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled motor that dishes out 39.5bhp and 37.5Nm. It’s linked to a six-speed gearbox and benefits from a slipper clutch.
Then, the engine sits inside a hybrid spine tubular frame that gets a bolt-on subframe. This setup sits on 43mm BFF USD forks and a gas-charged rear shock with preload adjustability.
On the other hand, the Speed 400’s braking hardware comprises a 300mm front disc and a 230mm rear disc with dual-channel ABS. The bike rides on 17-inch alloys wrapped in road-biased tyres.
On the feature front, the Triumph Speed 400 gets LED lights, a semi-digital instrument console, as well as switchable traction control. The cluster gets an analogue speedometer with a digital screen for the gear position indicator, tachometer, fuel level reading, and more.
Triumph will offer the Speed 400 in a couple of colour schemes – Carnival Red, Caspian Blue, and Phantom Black. While the bike is yet to be launched, its official bookings have commenced online on Triumph’s website and the token amount is set at Rs. 2,000 (refundable). UPCOMINGJUL 2023
