In a dynamic world marked by shifting investment landscapes, the 13th edition of the world-renowned investment platform, now rebranded as “AIM Congress,” is set to convene global leaders, thinkers, and innovators from 7th to 9th May 2024 at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC).

This high-level event, co-hosted by AfriCatalyst and Open Society Foundations, will explore the changes in the global investment arena. Participants will seek sustainable solutions to navigate these changes with a view to benefiting economies.

Under the theme “Adapting to a Shifting Investment Landscape: Harnessing New Potential for Global Economic Development,” AIM Congress 2024 is supported by the Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology and the Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development (ADDED) as the lead partner.

AIM Congress 2024: Policymakers’ insightful exchange

Building on the success of the previous edition, which drew 10,313 participants and 693 speakers from 175 countries, this event promises an even more robust platform for collective expertise and diverse perspectives to drive inclusive and sustainable development.

AIM Congress 2024 comes at a crucial time. It aims to provide in-depth understanding of shifting investment dynamics and their global impacts.

Policymakers, industry experts, and visionaries will engage in insightful discussions, knowledge sharing, and strategic collaboration. Together, they’ll seek to address rapid technological advancements, geopolitical challenges, value chain disruptions, and the sustainability imperative.

What’s more, the event will underscore the pivotal role of Foreign Direct Investments (FDIs) in stimulating innovation, creating jobs, and fostering sustainable development, particularly in emerging markets.

His Excellency Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, UAE Minister of State for Foreign Trade, highlighted the event’s importance, emphasizing its commitment to global economic cooperation and the harnessing of countries’ potential, especially in emerging markets.

He also noted that hosting AIM Congress 2024 further elevates the UAE’s position on the global investment map. The UAE is turning into a preferred destination for international investors seeking opportunities for expansion.

“As the UAE being one of the largest investing countries worldwide, this event perfectly aligns with the country’s current investment directions, effectively addressing the prevailing challenges confronting the global economy while striving to foster development, prosperity, and sustainability in future investment destinations for Emirati investments,” he added.

Abu Dhabi leads global conversations on investments

Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development (ADDED), His Excellency Ahmed Jasim Al Zaabi, stressed the event’s significance in raising the bar for the global investment community.

As the “Capital of Capital,” Abu Dhabi leads global conversations on investment outlooks and dynamics in an era marked by mega shifts.

“Our approach to inward and outward investments is guided by our unwavering commitment to place human development, sustainability, and advanced technology at the core of socio-economic plans at local and international levels, support of ESG agendas, and enhance synergies through international cooperation to improve life for all,” explained Al Zaabi.

The event aims to equip delegates with the knowledge and tools to seize opportunities and drive sustainable development.

Five key pillars of AIM Congress 2024

AIM Congress 2024’s five key pillars – FDI, FPI, Startups, SMEs, and Future Cities – will serve as the foundation for the event’s objectives and activities.

Collaborations with international organizations will enrich discussions and workshops. Some of the organisations set for collaborations are the World Health Organization, and the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD). Leaders from the World Trade Organization, Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), and the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) will be participating.

New forums, including the Young Leaders Under 30, Belt & Road Summit, Technology Pitching Stage, and Youngest Billionaires, will enhance the event’s offerings. The new additions highlight the vital role of entrepreneurship and innovation in the evolving investment landscape.
