The Equatorial Guinea’s Ministry of Mines and Hydrocarbon has all reason to smile as they gear up preparations to represent the country as the diamond sponsor at the high-profile African Energy Week 2021.
In a press statement sent to the newsroom, the African Energy Chamber (AEC) confirmed that the country’s Ministry of Mines and Hydrocarbon’s (MMH) will be the diamond’s sponsor.
The highly anticipated 4-day event of the African Energy week (AEW)2021 will take place in Cape Town, South Africa between the dates of 9th-12th this month.
The interactive and networking event is expected to unite African and Global energy stakeholders, drive industry growth, and promote Africa as the destination for Africa-focused events.
Although there will be other diamond sponsors at the event, Equatorial Guinea will be the biggest sponsor and the ministry through its able hands of H.E. Gabriel Obiang Lima will be granted an opportunity to see off different discussions on Africa Energy, cement partnerships regionally, and enhance a more interactive dialogue.

This platform will provide the continent with opportunities for engagement, discussions, and deal-making, all of which are critical, now more than ever, for advancing Africa’s energy and economic recovery in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Mines and Hydrocarbon resources in Equatorial Guinea have reshaped the fast-growing gas player to international recognition hence offering more investment opportunities.
Notwithstanding the Proposed revisions to the country’s Hydrocarbon Law aims to incentivize investment across the entire value chain, with increased regional and international participation a top priority.
The African Energy Week 2021 in Cape Town will be key to the country’s gas future as it will be a golden chance for the Ministry to highlight the said Laws as well as offer insight for emerging players and interested stakeholders.
Already, the country has seen the active participation of notable legacy players, including but not limited to ExxonMobil; Marathon Oil Corporation; Kosmos Energy; Noble Energy; and Chevron.
The MMH is focused on enhancing exploration in the country, and as a diamond sponsor in Cape Town, is well-positioned to engage with global stakeholders, attracting new entrants into the industry and driving the country’s gas progress.
According to the statement, MMH will be mostly aiming to provide more insights on Equatorial Guinea, particularly on the country’s progress regarding regional collaboration and its consolidation as a Gas Mega Hub (GMH).
The MMH will make a strong case for regional cooperation at AEW 2021, using the country’s success with Cameroon in which Equatorial Guinea is fostering trade for regional growth as well as Nigeria with recent talks regarding enhanced gas supply chains between the countries to drive dialogue.
