Tigo, Tanzania has unveiled a new package, allowing its customers to call across networks at the same tariff.

The package dubbed “Ujanja Ni” is expected to increase its customer base by stiffening competition witin the telecommunication sector in the country.

According to a statement from Tigo, the package offers absolute freedom to call any network at the same tariff, and customers purchase the voice, and data packages at affordable and competitive prices.

Tanzania Communications Regulations Authority (TCRA) September 2019 quarterly statistics, put Tigo Tanzania with 26.1 per cent of the subscription market share, at the height of voice consumption along-side other telco giants Vodacom and Airtel Tanzania.

The launching of the service adds up on the Tanzanian government’s efforts in ensuring that making calls across all networks in Tanzania is affordable and gives customers the assurance to enjoy a better internet experience on the biggest 4G+ network in the country.

Tigo’s Acting Chief Commercial Officer, David Umoh finds the new package as a revolutionary approach towards transforming the Tanzanian telecom landscape.

“As a digital lifestyle telco, we believe this new portfolio will liberate and connect our customers more with their loved ones across the country. We are introducing this service under the campaign dubbed ‘Ujanja ni’ which loosely translates to ‘The Smart thing is’ “the smart thing is to take advantage of these new offers from Tigo to get the best value for money across Tanzania,” he said.

Also, Tigo Tanzania’s packages have been enriched with more talk time, SMS and internet data. The new portfolio comes with a suite of weekly and monthly packages that offer customers the smartest choices to stay connected all the time through voice & data by giving them more value for less money.

“For the first time, over 12 million Tigo customers will no longer have to worry about the inconvenience of buying on-net and off-net packages to make calls on different networks in Tanzania. Our new packs liberate voice calls to any network in Tanzania. This further demonstrates our efforts in being the network that gives more value to our customers while they experience our innovative services”, Umoh said

“We also call upon our customers to subscribe to our super-rich and affordable weekly and monthly combo packages (data, voice, and SMS inclusively), that add more value to the market. The weekly and monthly packages last longer compared to daily packages, and at the same time saves the customers money,” Umoh commented.
