Africa Financial Services Investment Conference (AFSIC), the Africa investment forum for the year 2021 will be held at Park Plaza Westminster Bridge London, Greater London from Oct 11 – Oct 12.

AFSIC which is believed to be the largest Africa investment event takes place annually outside Africa and has become one of the most important conduits of investment into Africa.

Africa investment opportunities

The event which is now in its 8th year is entirely focused on highlighting Africa’s most interesting investment opportunities.

The event will bring together Africa’s business leaders and Africa’s most important investors and dealmakers and will showcase investment opportunities from across the whole of Africa.

Agenda

AFSIC 2021 features a brand new agenda format ordered by industry focus. People will be able to listen to African business leaders and investors deliver exceptional keynotes and interactive panels and attend excellent interactive networking sessions.

A discussion on banking on Africa will kick off at 8:55am on October 11, with more than 20 speakers lined up to speak. Discussions on building Africa, informed investing, enhancing educating/advancing agriculture and country sessions will all kick off at 9:00am.

On 12th October, discussions on sustainable growth, fintech innovation, healthcare transformation, informed investing and country sessions will all kick off at 9:00am.

Investing in Rwanda

Aly Z Ramji, Mediapix Limited Director and managing editor at The Exchange will be giving a discussion on investing in Rwanda.

Rwanda has sustained high economic growth in the past 10 years, sustained by an investor friendly climate and significant progress in governance and relative political stability.

Growth momentum is expected to remain strong, driven by public and private investment through the country’s s National Transformation Strategy (NST).

This is a new medium-term development strategy (vision 2050) aimed at achieving high quality and standards of Life for Rwandans and developing modern Infrastructure across the country.

Some of the ongoing projects to boost growth include the Bugesera Airport project, Gisagara thermal power plant project and infrastructure in the special economic zones (Bugesera, Rwamagana).

As part of the strategy, a “Made in Rwanda” program is expected to promote local production in order to reduce imports.

The country aims to promote industrialization and attain a structural shift in the export base to high-value goods and services with the aim of growing exports by 17% annually.

Rwanda’s mining, oil and gas potential is still to be fully exploited while preliminary studies indicate potential significant reserves in rare earth minerals, petroleum and gas.

Investment opportunities are also available in the following sectors: agriculture, tourism, ICT, infrastructure, real estate and construction, energy, financial services, health services and education.
