Former minister Njenga Karume’s grandson has been arrested in Nairobi over trafficking of cocaine and marijuana.
Mr James Njenga Kihato was arrested together with Mr Lawrence Muketo Ngula and Joseph Mutua Kimeu in his house in Lavington.
The head of the Anti-Narcotics Unit (ANU) Dr Hamisi Massa said that the three would be charged in court on Thursday July 21.
Investigations have revealed that James was one of the affiliate members involved in the planning of “Project X” Party in Nairobi, which planned to invite youth to a sex and drugs party at various locations in Nairobi including Kileleshwa before the Kenya Film Classification Board got wind of the plot and had it cancelled.
The suspects, said to be also operating a narcotics distribution network in Nairobi and Kampala, were arrested during an operation by ANU detectives.
Police said that James has been importing narcotics such as Lysergic Acid Diethylamide (LSD) from abroad including several European countries. LSD’s are said to be highly hallucinogenic, addictive and popular among the youth in Nairobi especially in the high-end clubs as it gives them a quick high.
