The winners of Tanzania’s top 100 mid-sized companies’ awards for year 2015-16 were revealed during the prestigious corporate event, last Friday at the Mlimani City conference hall.
Softnet Technologies Ltd., Morogoro Plastics Ltd., Kays Logistics Ltd., Abacus Pharma Ltd. and Techno Brain Tanzania Ltd. scooped the top five awards.
The Top 100 mid-sized companies awards are presented to companies, which have successfully managed to achieve growth whilst adopting corporate governance in their business operations. The annual survey covers a broad range of factors including high level of growth in term of business turnover, profitability, operating costs, return on assets, creation of employment and compliance to business regulations including payment of government taxes.
These awards have created vast opportunities for the participants, and a majority of the companies have gradually succeeded in growing their market share through public awareness of their products and services.
In addition to the benefits enjoyed by the participants over the last five years since inception of the awards, the mid-sized companies in Tanzania have also contributed significantly in growing the economy through job creation and improving the living standards of millions of Tanzanians.
Companies competing in this survey will enable the East African business community to expand their market space, and pave the way for cross-border business opportunities in the East African region.
The Top 100 mid-sized companies awards is a brainchild of KPMG and The Citizen and the survey was covers all Tanzanian companies operating on an annual turnover ranging between 1 billion and 20 billion Tanzanian shillings. A similar survey is also organised by KPMG and The Citizen in Kenya, Uganda and Rwanda.
The survey was also sponsored by Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange (DSE), Azam Media and Kuza Biashara.
