Kenya is home to some of the wealthiest politicians on the continent, and probably in the world.
Kenyan politicians are paid well with members of parliament taking home a monthly salary of between Sh 621,250 and Sh 710,000.
As the 2022 General Election set for Tuesday, August 9, 2022, draws near, we look at some of Kenya’s richest politicians seeking elective seats, their businesses and estimated net worth.

1. Gideon Moi

Kenya African National Union (KANU) chairperson Gideon Moi seeks to retain his seat as Baringo senator.
Gideon is the youngest son of the late retired president Daniel Arap Moi, who ruled Kenya with an iron fist from 1978 to 2002.

The soft-spoken lawmaker, a member of the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition, will defend his seat for the third time. He will face off with United Democratic Alliance (UDA) candidate William Cheptumo and other Senate hopefuls.
Besides his career in politics, Gideon is an astute businessman with investments across diverse sectors of the economy.
Some of the businesses left behind by his father that he runs are The Kabarak University, Standard Media Group, Siginon Group and Regent Management. According to the Kroll report as reported by the Guardian, the lawmaker is worth over £550 million (Sh 79.4 billion).
2. William Ruto net worth
Deputy President William Ruto hopes to succeed his boss Uhuru Kenyatta. The UDA presidential candidate will make his first stab at the presidency having played the role of a kingmaker in previous elections.

Ruto has on several occasions said he rose from a chicken seller to occupy the second-highest office in the land.
In September 2021, Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i listed several properties owned by the deputy president and protected by the state.
The properties include Weston Hotel, Murumbi Farm, Dolphine Hotel, Mombasa and Koitalel Poultry Farm ghostwriter bachelorarbeit.

3. Raila Odinga net worth

Raila Odinga will run for the presidency for a record fifth time in the 2022 General Election. The seasoned politician will fly the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition Party flag.
In January 2020, Raila claimed he was worth Sh 2 billion.

Raila owns East Africa Spectre, which supplies gas cylinders to oil and gas marketers. In December 2021, he revealed he sold his car to start the company.
“The entire machinery was being sold at KSh 12,000, which I didn’t have ghostwriter. My salary was only KSh 2,000, so I sold my car to raise the cash and that is how I started,” he said.

4. Johnstone Muthama

The UDA chairperson hopes to succeed Alfred Mutua as Machakos governor.
Muthama served as Machakos senator between 2013 and 2017 and has investments worth over Sh 6.5 billion.
He has investments in mining, agriculture and real estate ghostwriter deutschland. He owns Rockland Kenya Limited and Nina Marie Ltd.

5. Moses Wetang’ula

Moses Wetang’ula is a seasoned Kenyan politician who has been serving as Bungoma senator since 2013.
Wetang’ula leads the Ford Kenya Party under the Kenya Kwanza Alliance.
According to Pulselive, Wetang’ula’s net worth is estimated at Sh 2.4 billion Schlüsseldienst Berlin. The politician acquired most of his wealth through his long career in politics and law.
Wetang’ula is a partner in the Wetangula, Adan, Makokha & Company Advocates. He has also invested in the lucrative real sector through properties in Nairobi.
He owns a multi-million mansion in Karen and drives luxurious vehicles.
