The online retail market is becoming even more crowded in Kenya with the entrance of a new retailer-Hashmart.

Hashmart’s entrance heightens competition for customers in the growing virtual space market positioning itself to supply premium brands including electronics, accessories and lifestyle collections.

Started in 2017, the retailer’s managing director Mansoor Hussein said unlike most retailers in the market which deal in all types of products, Hashmart selects trending products to make shopping easy for customers.

And the entrance may just be the beginning with Alibaba Group’s Executive Chairman Jack Ma just recently started a drive for young African entrepreneurs.

“We are very deliberate in our sourcing of products for both quality and affordable prices for Kenyan customers,” he said.

Among its products are smartphone brands like Samsung, Tecno, Infinix, computers and accessories.

Hashmart also stocks networking products (IT), home appliances, home entertainment, and wearables such as watches, sunglasses and other lifestyle products. It also offers global shopping services.

“Hashmart endeavours to maintain the highest standards for our products and services. Our workforce remains committed to upholding the principles of quality and integrity that define the company,” says Hussein.

He said the retailer has been attracting more shoppers since it was established due to a unique combination of superior product quality, durability and commitment to customer service.

He said the retailer offers fast delivery services within Kenya with weekly and monthly promotional offers of up to 50% discount.

Hashmart is out to give other established players in the market a run for their money, with Hashmart targeting to take a huge slice of the online shoppers by end of the year.

The e-commerce industry is growing in Kenya, as internet penetration deepens and cost of data drops. More and more Kenyans are shopping online, attracted by lower prices and home or office deliveries.

He said Hashmart is identifying emerging trends in the online shopping market to integrate them into the company’s operations. Among them is responding fast to technology changes and expanding into speciality markets.

Hashmart said it is initially focusing on Nairobi, as it puts in place systems to expand to other major towns. It has also integrated various payment methods including M-Pesa, PayPal and credit cards.

The retailer has massively invested in innovation and new ways of doing business. Customers can enjoy the most convenient shopping terms with the company including same day deliveries and real-time customer service.

The company offer shoppers exposure to a wide range of global products such as the latest TVs and gaming consoles. The manager says that the company prides itself on the ability to ship any goods from overseas in less than a month.
