Hopper HQ, an Instagram scheduling, planning and analytics firm, released the list of the highest paid public figures on the social media service.

The Instagram rich list 2022 comprises big names in the continent who rake in millions per post, considering they have millions of followers.

According to Hopper, top on the Instagram rich list in 2022 is Egyptian professional footballer Mohammed Salah, who plays as a forward for English Premier League side Liverpool. Nigerian singers Davido and Yemi Alade were ranked second and third, respectively.

Africa’s Instagram rich list

  1. Mohamed Salah

The Egyptian winger is ranked the highest paid Instagram influencer in 2022. Salah boasts 52.1 million followers on Instagram. As of Thursday, July 21, he had shared 836 posts.

According to Hopper, Salah earns US$275,000 per post. Salah’s net worth is estimated at US$40 million.

  1. David Adeleke (Davido)

David Adeleke is popularly known by his stage name Davido. The Nigerian singer, who was born on November 21, 1992, has produced many hits, such as Dream Girl, Blow my Mind, Jowo and Assurance.

Davido, who has a massive 24.7 million followers, takes home US$131,000 per post. Davido is worth approximately US$16 million.

  1. Yemi Alade

The Nigerian Afropop singer rose to fame for her sweet music, which has taken the continent’s airwaves by storm.

Alade is considered one of the biggest artists in Africa, with millions of fans. The 33-year-old charges US$106,000 per post. She’s worth US$4 million.

  1. Funke Akindele Bello

Akindele is a Nigerian actress who doubles up as a producer. She has starred in several movies, with Jenifa propelling her to fame. She has since joined politics and is the running mate for the People’s Democratic Party gubernatorial candidate, Abdul-Azeez Olajide Adediran, in the 2023 Lagos state governorship election.

Akindele has over 15.3 million followers on Instagram and rakes in US$97,000 per post. She’s worth US$1 million.

  1. AB de Villiers

Abraham Benjamin de Villiers ( AB de Villiers) is a former South African international cricketer who became prominent for his cricketing skills. The 38-year-old announced his retirement from the sport in November 2021. De Villers has 17.8 million followers, and his net worth is estimated at US$15 million. He earns US$97,000 per post.

  1. Tiwa Savage

The Nigerian singer, songwriter and actress’s net worth is estimated as US$5 million. Savage signed a publishing deal with Sony in 2009. She has over 15 million followers on Instagram and is paid US$95,000 per post.

The Nigerian singer is popularly referred to by his stage name – Wizkid. The 32-year-old is one of Africa’s biggest artists and one of the most decorated Nigerian artists. The Afro-pop artist boasts over 14.5 million followers, where he earns US$92,000 per post. Wizkid’s net worth is estimated at US$ 12 million.

  1. Mercy Johnson

Mercy Johnson has dominated the African movie scene since 2004. The Nigerian actress is also a film producer and director. Mercy’s net worth is estimated at US$5 million. She has over 12.6 million followers on Instagram and takes home US$80,000 per post.

The 44-year-old Nigerian actress is known for her role in Yoruba international movies. The prominent actress with interests in different business sectors is worth US$1 million and paid US$69,000 per post on Instagram, where she has garnered 10.9 million followers.

  1. Idris Sultan

The Tanzanian actor and comedian won the Big Brother Africa-Hotshots in 2014, bagging a huge Sh 32 million windfall. Sultan has 7.8 million followers on Instagram and is the only East African that made it to the top 10 Instagram rich list in 2022. He takes home US$50,000 per post.
