Lea Ceasrine, 28, said she was glad Biden kept his pledge to cancel up to $20K for Pell Grant applicants meeting income requirements.

The Chicago-based podcast producer is one of 27 million borrowers who earn less than $125,000 and are eligible to get up to $20,000.

"It's emotional for those of us who went to college on Pell Grants," she stated.

"For me, It's a game changer," remarked Kaya Jones, 23. She got a BA in political science and journalism from Temple University in 2020.

She worked two jobs and relied on family, friends, student loans, and Pell Grants to pay for school.

Her total, which was $34,600, would be cut in half once she received $20,000 in forgiveness.

Jones intends to use some of the funds to put down on a home in or around Philadelphia. "That's quite exciting," she said.
