How income shapes Africa’s sustainable energy journey

Though facing a severe energy crisis, South Africa is transitioning to clean energy projects to create jobs, increase household incomes, and enhance economic efficiency while curbing pollution. A survey by South Africa's Council for Scientific and Industrial Research found that renewable energy from the country's first wind and solar investments created $210.2 million more financial benefits to the country than they cost during the first six months of 2015.
