Sabasaba trade fair, the 49th Dar es Salaam International Trade Fair (DITF), is currently underway in the commercial port city of Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. Launched on the 28th June at the Mwalimu J. K. Nyerere Trade Fair Grounds located along Kilwa Road, south east of the city, the Sabasaba Trade fair is annual trade promotion event is organised by Tanzania Trade Development Authority (TanTrade).

This year’s Sabasaba trade fair has attracted an exemplary turn up of exhibitors and visitors alike, according to local press. Market News | Oil & Gas Tanzania 2021Tanzania set aside over 110 hectares for the construction of the Mtwara Free Port Zone over a decade ago (2009) but since then, only 10 hectares have been put to use. Now Tanzania’s parliament wants answers as to why the project is lagging behind.

Special Seats Member of Parliament (CCM) Anastasia Wambura raised the concern recently in the August House citing that the project was very promising yet little groundwork has actually been done.

Responding the Deputy Minister of Agriculture Hussein Bashe acknowledged the slow pace of investment in the Mtwara Free Port Zone but blamed it on the overall drop in global economies that have affected the oil (and gas) industry gravely.

East Africa Petroleum Conference 2019- The Exchange

East African countries are set to attend the ninth East African Petroleum Conference and exhibition to discuss investment opportunities to enhance socio-economic transformation.

This year`s conference is themed:` East African Region – the destination of choice for Oil and Gas Investment Opportunities to enhance Socioeconomic Transformation.`

Chairperson of the organizing committee, Marin Heya said over the weekend that over 1,000 local, regional and international delegates will be attending the three-day conference that will be in Mombasa from May 8.

`The conference will help attract investors on oil and gas into the region given the potential in the region, ` Heya said.

He revealed that the Chinese geo-spatial and survey firm BGP and CNOOC are among the companies that are expected to attend the three-day conference.
