Trade and investment between Kenya and the United Arab Emirates is set for a major boost after chambers of commerce from the two countries reached a new agreement.
The Sharjah Chamber of Commerce & Industry and Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry have signed an MoU to open a satellite trade office in the United Arab Emirates.

The agreement will enable and provide strategic bilateral cooperation between the business communities in Kenya and UAE with an objective to foster cooperation in trade, investment, joint activities, information and services and trade policy support programmes.
The agreement was announced at the UAE-Kenya Trade and Investment Forum where Kenya hosted a delegation of over 20 top companies from the United Arab Emirates.

Uganda’s use of innovation to solve social challenges drive its development and creates new employment opportunities, Dr. Ruhakana Ruganda, Prime Minister of Uganda, said during the Global Business Forum Africa, GBF Africa 2019, in Dubai.
Speaking during an opening session, Dr. Ruganda discussed on how Uganda is fostering innovation and technology to unlock its economic potential.
He gave an example of mobile technology being used to register and track valuable data, improve access to education and address existing issues.
“These efforts in innovation taking place in Uganda – especially by the younger generation – are also being replicated in similar settings in a number of African counties in East Africa, Southern Africa, West Africa and North Africa,” Dr Ruganda said.

United Arab Emirates (UAE) has been strengthening its presence in Mozambique with it becoming the third-largest exporter of diverse products to Maputo in 2018.
The UAE investment level approved by the Agency of Investment and Export Promotion (APIEX) reached over $1 billion between 2014 and 2018, with 20 companies from the UAE investing in Mozambique market.
Abdulla Momade, representative of the Dubai Chamber of Commerce in Maputo said that their investments in Mozambique have focused on energy, logistics and real estate.
Looking at commercial transactions, the volume of trade between Mozambique and the United Arab Emirates is reported to be around US$700 million. In 2018 alone, trade between the two countries was US$500 million.
